Happy Lalentine's Day... and an update

Hi Friends!
Happy (belated) Lalentine's Day- and yes, that is laletntines with an "L"...and that's just how we roll in my family.
Here's a shameless picture share...
OH WAIT!
Life update first! I have to brag and say that I had my first email this week from a blogstalker who couldn't wait to hear the news about the house. Sad part of the story is that we didn't get it. :( We were outbid- and we offered asking price!!! So we're still on the hunt. Thanks for caring, blogstalker friend!!!
And now the shameless amazing picture share of greatness. I won't even bore you with my commentary, except to say that these pictures include the best baby mohawk ever, A-girl first tat (yes my friends, my 8 month old baby has had her first tattoo), a cute Lalentine's Day picture, A-girl's first foray into the commercial world (I personally think it would make a GREAT Coke ad, and I don't even drink Coke!), A-girl and her buddy Lana at work, doing laundry, and how the fight for the phone has already started, and she's not even a teenager. Enjoy!
OH WAIT!
One more thing...
I've also started making a list of random thoughts that I think will turn into good blogs as I have the chance to write them. So hopefully I'll be posting more often with more of my musings on life in addition to family updates and pictures. I hope it encourages dialouge here and endears me to you even more (as if I needed any help in that category, right? Wink, wink)
And NOW...the pictures...

Why I could NEVER be on Food Network...

...and it's not because I can't cook.

It's a lazy Sunday morning, and I'm making a cup of cocoa for my wonderful husband and I.

I warm the milk the old fashioned (and slower) way, thinking it'll taste better gently stirred on the stove than nuked. I stir in cinnamon and vanilla to the warming milk, before adding the perfect paste of cocoa powder and organic sugar. (PS- it's the best way to make cocoa. Trust me. Mix the cocoa powder and sugar, then stir in just enough warm milk to make a paste, THEN mix with the cup of warm milk. I don't know how or why, but it makes a difference.)

After painstaking minutes, my cocoa is ready and my toast is warm and buttered. I watch Nick from the kitchen as he takes his first (what I imagine to be heavenly) sip. He nochalantly slurps, swallows, and sets the cup down.

"What do you think?" I ask.

"It's good," he replies, with the gusto of a person who has just ingested plain, old REGULAR cocoa.

Doesn't he know? How my wrist is a little sore from stirring the milk so it didn't burn on the bottom and taste bitter? That is first tried the recipe with Splenda then threw that paste away because it tasted like chemical chocolate? That I delicately measured, mixed, swirled and taste-tested his batch to ensure it's perfection?

And as I watch him gulp down the cocoa, I realize how ill-suited I am for reality cooking shows. I need too much praise and encouragement to have my dishes ripped apart for the sake of quirky television dialouge. I take too much enjoyment from serving a dish (or drink) that pleases the palatte and feeds the soul the love with which it was prepared.

So I bite the bullet and ask as he sets down the empty mug, "Good, huh?" He smiles knowingly and replies, "It was amazing. Is there more?"

And I scurry around to whip up another batch.

Need a little cash...?

Cause, seriously, who doesn't?
PLUS, it's for a good cause, my people.

Buy a golf ball and you could win $2,500 cold, hard cash. Proceeds benefit the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, which you can learn more about here- www.semperfifund.org They are an amazing organization that provides financial assistance for Marines injured in combat.

And if you don't hear from me for a while, or if you're wondering why you haven't heard from me in a while, it's because the ball drop is just one piece of a HUGE and amazing golf tournament we're throwing at Cox. I'll be back once the sand traps have settled with lots of stories, musings on life, and pictures of the A-girl. (Wait til you see the one of her with a mohawk in the tub.)

OH- I almost forgot! To learn more about the Cox Community Golf Tournament, or to buy a golf ball (1 golf ball for $10, 3 for $20, or 20 for $100) visit our Web site here- www.cox-cares.org/golf
