St. Paddy's Day Fun

So, most of us are familiar with Irish blessings...the sweet, rhyming little poems that you imagine being read aloud by a leprechaun with an Irish lilt leaning against a pot of gold.

Well, my friends, today I discovered Irish curses. Below are my three favs- the last one is amazing. And I promise I did not make these up...

May those who love us love us.

And those that don't love us,

May God turn their hearts.

And if He doesn't turn their hearts,

May he turn their ankles,

So we'll know them by their limping.

May the enemies of Ireland never meet a friend.

May the curse of Mary Malone and her nine blind illegitimate children chase you so far over the hills of Damnation that the Lord himself can't find you with a telescope.

So imagine a small leprechaun chasing you shouting these curses with his Irish lilt. Not quite as magical, but pretty darn hilarious!

Oh- my other St. Patrick's Day idea was to make "Rice Krispy Treats" but dye the marshmellow goo green and use Lucky Charms instead of Rice Krispies. It's probably an idea that will live on only in my head- which could be a good thing!

And now, to send you on your St. Paddy's Day way with my favorite Irish blessing...

May the road rise to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face.

And rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

What a great idea you had to donate your gown!! I am going to give it some serious thought. They also accept a bunch of other stuff like the slips, pettite coats (sp?), etc. I think I am going to send them my accessories at the very least. Im tickled at the thought of a less-fortunate bride getting to have fancy stuff she might not have been able to afford otherwise. I shelled out a small fortune so I'd love for someone else to be able to get joy out of it!!!
